Helping Make Farms Sustainable

Your carbon offset contribution helps to make farming healthier by funding the transition to sustainable farming practices.

The program enriches the soil by stimulating soil photosynthesis.

This results in the growth of organic material which absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere.

For each tonne of CO2 removed from the atmosphere, a carbon credit is created

My Clean Sky permanently allocates these carbon credits against your air travel emissions.

In this way, CO2 equivalent in amount to your air travel emissions are removed from the atmosphere and used to build richer agricultural soils.

Max and his family have been farming pumpkins, corn, beans and melons in the Burdekin Region for over thirty years.

Max believes that farming can become more sustainable by using less artificial fertilizers absorbing atmospheric carbon.

Through this program, Max has undertaken new farm management practices including reduced use of nitrogen fertilizer and the application of soil biological stimulants.

These practices result in increased organic material in the soil, fed by CO2 from the air.

Max is issued with a carbon credit for every ton of CO2 that is absorbed into the soil.

My Clean Sky matches these carbon credits against the CO2 that has been emitted by our client's air travel.

Through My Clean Sky's carbon offset service, air travel passengers can help support farmers like Max capture carbon from the atmosphere to 'offset' the CO2 that is unavoidably produced when you fly.

In this way, it is also possible to contribute to helping make Australian farms healthy, and improving the security of our food.

Louisa Kiely on her wool farm is part of the Soil Carbon Sequestration Program. "It seems funny to clean up the skies by building richer soil on the ground... only by building up soil carbon can we clean the skies of CO2 - I think My Clean Sky is a brilliant concept. Helping people to clean up the  sky, and farmers to cope with climate change and drought."

Support for soil carbon sequestration comes from authoritative sources.

The picture below shows the difference that enhanced soil carbon can make. The farm on the left demonstrates that sustainable farming practices enhance the production of plant growth nad reduces erosion. The farm on the right suffers normal farming practices. My Clean Sky seeks to assist farmers to transition to sustainable farming practices. This transition can be assisted by your carbon offset purchases through My Clean Sky.

The farm on the left uses carbon farming practices and the farm on the right does not.
